Teleprotection of various Feeders 2. Data Communication for Telemetry & Telecontrol purposes and 3. Voice Communication. These operational requirements are achieved over the following media. 1. Fibre Optic Links 2. Microwave 3. PLC 4. Pilot Cable 5. Telecom Cable |
Major Duties and Responsibilities :
1- Power Line Carrier Equipment (PLC) Here the duties include routine maintenance of analogue equipment using selective level meter and selective level oscillator to check various levels of AF, IF, & RF frequencies for both Transmitter and Receiver. Data Analyzer is used for checking the BER of Data circuits. For digital PLC, similar tests are conducted using a PC and a proprietary software. 2- Pilot / Telecom Cable Here the duties include level measurements, Loop testing, Attenuation & Frequency response testing of various cable circuits. 3- Fiber Optic Equipment The duties include testing of various parameters on both transmitter and receiver side of the optcal line equipment using Hand held Terminals. Also Power budget as well as attenuation are checked using optical time domain reflectometer as well as power meter. 4- MUX equipment and TMS ( Transmission Management System)
Software tools are used to check various exchange parameters for both subscriber channels as well as 2 M bit/s trunk channels.
Here Handheld Terminals are used to check various levels of microwave transmitter as well as receiver such as AGC. Also loop testing is done to ensure BER of both Main channel and Protection channel are within specification.
Routine maintenance activities are conducted on 48V battery chargers / Batteries, to check float / boast levels, Ampere hour capacity of batteries etc. On Tape Recorders regular maintenance checks are conducted. |
