Job Description
- Able to work in accordance with PNG Mine Safety Act, OUR CLIENTs Safety System, Safety Policies and Procedures and OUR CLIENTs Environment policies and all departmental operating procedures
- Computer proficiency in MS Office suite and Auto Cad, Sound planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously, Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines
- Drive and influence proactive safety behaviours within workgroups through visible leadership
- Ensure all personnel, visitors and contractors comply with site and contractual HSE requirements and hold people accountable for adherence.
- Plan work so that it can be conducted safely; and considers environmental conditions, nearby activities, and the people and other resources needed to complete the work.
- Develops team members through regular feedback, coaching and formal training, Creates opportunities for people to work together to enable them to contribute to the business and learn from each other
- Ensure integrity of protection and earthing system design, Accountability in design and maintenance of electrical equipment
- Act as OUR CLIENT representative for electrical HV design, modelling, equipment selection, sizing, etc, for projects, Ownership of OUR CLIENT project fault study & protection reports and reviews
- Ownership of OUR CLIENT project load management philosophy reports and reviews, Provide technical assistance as required to support OUR CLIENT management requirements.
- Delivers work within approved budget managing any variances in accordance with escalation process., Actively seeks cost reduction opportunities
- Reviews departmental financial data & results to assess performance and identify opportunities for maximising results, reducing risk, and implementing cost management initiatives.
- Demonstrates personal responsibility for own health and safety whilst setting clear expectations of relevant legal obligations, safe workplace practices and HSE operating practices to others, holding them accountable for their actions
- Takes personal responsibility to develop team members through constructive feedback, allocation of assignments / projects, coaching and formal training to build capability & competence
- Develops & implements mid to long-term departmental plans, changes, and initiatives to achieve overall business goals by providing positive leadership, direction & guidance within the department and wider organisation
- Continually seeks to understand key market drivers and emerging trends (e.g., economical, technology, competition, pricing, stakeholder needs, cultural, political, and legal factors associated with the industry, sector, country & region)
Qualifications:
A minimum of 5 year(s) of working experience is required.
Candidates must be a Prof'l License(Passed Board/Bar/Prof'l License Exam) holder.
- Tertiary qualified bachelor’s in electrical engineering essential and accreditation from the Institutes of Engineers Inc. from any countries is desirable. (Master’s Qualifications is not mandatory but highly desirable)
- Eligible but not required to become registered Mine Electrician in PNG or other countries
- High Voltage switching accreditation desirable
- Certificate in Workplace Assessment and Training or similar desirable
- Competent with power simulation design software (DigSlient Power Factory/PSCAD)
- Ability to QA/QC and audit Power Generation, Renewables and Plant facilities
- Ability to Test and Commission Generation and Renewables facilities
- Competent with HV protection systems and studies and power system operations, stability, and control.
- Experienced in the production of switching sheets, access, and test permits.
- Experience in Power Utility Regulatory Compliance, experience in PNG is advantageous but not essential.
- 10+ years relevant work experience essential in one of either Utility Power Station Systems, Renewable Energy, Power Distribution Networks, LNG Plants, Natural Gas Power Systems, Renewable Technology or Diesel Power Systems.
- Previous experience working in remote locations in a developing country advantageous, but not essential and Proficient in English with excellent verbal, written communication, and public speaking skills.
- Proficient in writing Engineering reports but also developing request for tender responses is highly desirable but not essential and Computer proficiency in MS Office suite.
- Sound planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills, Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously, Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
